Summary
In Chapter 6, Lark uses the name “Ro” when talking to Rowan. Rowan says her name is Yarrow but Lark's use of the nickname sparks an emotion Rowan cannot explain. Rowan suddenly realizes that she has spent most of her life trying to please other people, and wonders why. She considers skipping out on whatever Pearl has planned for the evening in order to spend time with Lark. That evening, Rowan looks closely at herself in the mirror and thinks she can detect some dark roots in her blond hair, though she believes blond is her natural color. On impulse, she uses a color wand to turn her hair dark and likes the result. Pearl is critical of the change but Rowan refuses to change it back. Pearl demands that Lark pay for their evening out.
