The Clothes
Scott’s clothes represent concern. Scott admits that he does not get really worried about his strange weight loss until he realizes that he weighs the same fully clothed as he weighs naked.
Missy’s Foot
Missy’s foot represents understanding. Missy is not able to fully understand why Scott does not want medical treatment for his condition and will not allow her to be with him at the end until Deirdre reminds her how self-conscious Missy had been of her foot when it was deformed.
Photos of Dogs
The photos of the dogs represent condemnation. Although Scott just hopes to get Deirdre to understand that it is her dogs pooping in his yard, Deirdre feels as if Scott is condemning her and treating her the way he is because she is a married lesbian.
