Texarkana

Texarkana is Ellie's hometown in Northern Texas. She lives with her mother and father, who are both teachers. After ordering Kirby to appear in class and howl to prove a point, none of the other kids at her school like her because they are scared of her. However, she gets along with her neighbor, Jay.

Herotonic River

The Herotonic River cuts through Texarkana. When Kirby starts panicking because of Trevor, Ellie rides her bike across the old railroad bridge that cuts over the river. The river is notoriously polluted because the town used to manufacture plastics in town and the water and wildlife in the river are contaminated with PCBs. Ellie and Jay fall into the polluted water from the bridge and feel disgusted.
