Summary

In Chapter Five, Ellie and Jay met Al at the bridge. Jay’s parents were not a fan of Al because he had the vampire curse, which had symptoms that increased with age until sunscreen would no longer work for the sun and bagged blood would no longer satisfy their blood-craving. Vampires were not immortal, but the average lifespan was 92. However, Jay’s sister, Ronnie, was in love with Al, and Al wanted to make friends with Jay. He offered to climb up and fix the heart for Jay. After he did, he wrote a proposal to Ronnie, asking her to marry him. Jay worried his parents would panic if they saw it, so he tried to climb up and stop Al, but he fell. Ellie tried to catch Jay, but they both fell into the polluted river.
