Summary

In “May,” Juho asks Selin for dating advice. A girl he met at a dance named Lara invited him to see a play she is performing in. The girl attends a women’s college. Selin thinks of the only person she knows who attends a women’s college: her friend from summer camp, Jordan. They still exchange emails. Nurhat never approved of Selin’s friendship with half-Chinese Jordan. Nurhat always wanted Selin to be friends with white people. She also feared her daughter might be a lesbian and asked her outright one night when they were watching Law and Order. Selin found this rude but reassured her mother.
