Summary
In “The Third Week,” Selin is happy to buy a new bag and shoes. She feels so excited during her Chance lecture that she leaves. She tells Riley’s friends, Oak and Lucas, about this at dinner. She finds a stingray in the sink of their shared kitchen but is not interested enough to question it.
The next day, Selin finds the ethical half of Either/Or boring. An essay on marriage makes her think of how, as a teenager, she was forced to pretend she was happy for her father’s new marriage and baby. At dinner, Selin sits beside a stranger.
