Importance: Tara easily accepts her father’s beliefs as a child, but they do not prepare her to deal with difficult emotions. Her knee injury and fall that happens at the junkyard is the result of her father’s direction and irresponsibility. She trusts him to keep her safe, but he makes a poor decision that puts his youngest daughter’s life in danger, harming her.
