Isabella 'Bella' Swan

Bella is the heroine of the story. Bella is a nineteen-year-old high school senior as this novel begins. Bella is in love with Edward, a vampire. Bella and Edward have recently reunited after Edward left the area in an attempt to protect Bella from his way of life. Edward knows that Bella wants to become a vampire too so that they might spend forever together. Edward does not want this because he knows that being a vampire will require Bella to give up everything that makes her human, including her relationship with her parents.
