Section 13: Chapter 23 & 24 Summary
In Chapter 23, as Benji and Jacqueline discuss her relationship with Lucas, Kennedy approaches to tell Jacqueline that Buck is being allowed to remain on campus for the last week of the semester as long as he does not violate the restraining orders. He asks if he can do anything, but Jacqueline knows what he really wants, and there is no longer a place for him in her heart. He nods and sighs when she tells him she is fine, and she can see the realization of what they have lost in his eyes as he leaves.
