Summary

God’s Gift arrives in Virginia and the boys are taken off of the ship in a small boat. A young woman named Mad Marge suffers a fit as the boat approaches the shore, and her movements end up capsizing it; when everyone recovers, Mad Marge is nowhere to be found. The boys are met by a parson named Blair who leads them ashore. Blair brings Tony, Dick, and Sammy to a plantation owned by a man named George Menefie, who indentures them for seven years.

Tony, Dick, and Sammy are subjected to abuse by Menefie’s overseer, a man named Ralph Ganter, who insults and berates them. One evening, Ganter drunkenly catches Tony using a candle and beats him before becoming aroused while pinning Tony down.
