Rufus Henry

Rufus Henry is the main character of the book. Through his own leadership skills and determination he becomes the leader of the Moors. Rufus wants something better than life in a gang but he does not know any other way to survive.

Mr. Rubio

Mr. Rubio is a social worker at Pine Valley. He is the one that tries to get Rufus to open up and tells Rufus that he is being released.

Baby Gibson

Baby Gibson is Rufus’ friend from Pine Valley and a member of the Moors. He is very strong and a little slow, but he greatly admires Rufus.

Mrs. Henry

Mrs. Henry is a single mother of three kids, including Rufus. She wants the best for all of them but does not know what to do to help Rufus anymore.
