Summary
In Chapter 22, the Moors arrive at the training field dressed in their new clothes. Ernie Brown comes over and introduces himself. He sends Rufus out for a pass which Rufus easily catches. As he does, Rufus realizes Ernie is his father, and they even look alike. The Gassers arrive, escorted by Sergeant Roberts and Sergeant Wenzle. Simon makes jabs at Rufus while both groups eat the sandwiches they are offered. Afterward Ernie decides to take the boys on the field to give them football pointers. Everyone has fun until Simon misses a pass and trips. Everyone laughs and Ernie calls Rufus over to show Simon what he did wrong. As he does, Simon tells Ernie not to get too close because Rufus is in love with him, and he even has a scrapbook. Rufus charges Simon but is stopped by Sergeant Wenzle.
