Summary
As Chapter 4, “The Rain of Beads,” continues, Janice continues to tell the local legend known as the Rain of Beads. The story is supposedly true, and it began when a male robot formed a friendship with a teenage female girl. The male robot was part of a group of male robots. The robots had misinterpreted a poem written by a human; this misinterpretation led the robots to believe that one day, there would be born a half-human, half-robot child. The robots also believed that in order for this prophecy to be fulfilled, they needed a specific combination of two trading cards. The male robot possessed one card, and he discovered that the girl possessed the corresponding card.
