Power

Power plays an extensive role throughout the novel. Characters abuse, are addicted, to and misuse power in a myriad of ways. Dunbar divides his business into two and hands over each half to his two oldest sisters, who are extremely power-hungry individuals. Dr. Bob is also an individual who is constantly looking for ways to gain more power. This can take the form of betraying an ally or finding leverage for a deal. He is an opportunist who values his rise to the top over the people he will hurt on his way there.

Megan and Abigail are characterized as greedy, power-hungry women who will stop at nothing to take over their father's company.
