Summary
Chapter Four shifts to Florence’s perspective. Florence stands on her Manhattan apartment terrace, watching the fountain in the Central Park Reservoir, uneasy after her phone conversation with Abigail. She is determined to learn where her sisters are hiding their father. She knows her sisters have left New York, but she does not know where they went. Only Mark, Abigail’s alienated husband, is left in the city. She called him last night, but he had no idea where they had taken her father or where Abigail had gone. When Florence tells Mark that Abigail mentioned Switzerland, Mark says Florence can rule that out since Abby loves to lie.
