At a morning Affirmations, Augusten Burroughs listens as each person admits what they are, and that they are a good person. Rae, a counselor, talks about consequences of drinking. Augusten tells her about his apartment, which is full of empty Dewar's bottles. No one ever comes to his apartment. Rae tells them how she was once a doctor's wife but began drinking and ended up working as a prostitute before getting her life cleaned up.
