Chapters 43-48 Summary

Myron wakes up in Jessica's apartment and the two head to Flushing Meadows for Duane's big match. Duane tells Myron that Wanda has left him. Myron reminds Duane that while tennis is important, it might not be as important as the love he and Wanda share and that Duane should tell Wanda the truth. Myron believes that Duane was at the tennis club the night that Alexander Cross had been killed, a third person with Yeller and Swade. Duane does not respond, leaving the locker room for the court. Myron thinks things through and finally realizes what happened to Valerie during the fourth match.
