Chapters 25-30 Summary

Esperanza drives Myron to the Chelsea Hotel where he meets Win. Win informs him that Duane has met a woman and rented room 322. Win has rented room 323 with a view of Duane's. Though Myron would rather be with Jessica, he goes upstairs and waits in room 323 and keeps an eye on 322. While waiting, Myron almost convinces himself that there is no reason to be there, that Duane's private life is none of his business. Getting ready to give up, Myron hears the door open across the hall and watches Duane hug the woman he is with. Duane leaves and Myron is shocked to see that the woman is Deanna Yeller, Curtis Yeller's mother.

Myron wakes up in Jessica's house and tells her the details of Valerie Simpson's death. Jessica points out that the only constant in the entire tale, including Alexander...
