Chapters 19-24 Summary
Myron locates and arranges a meeting with Gregory Caufield, one of the young men with Alexander Cross the night he was killed. Caufield is more than happy to meet with Myron, almost anxious. Arriving at Caufield's law firm, Myron discovers that he is actually meeting with Senator Bradley Cross, Alexander's father. Senator Cross asks Myron to leave the death of his son out of his investigation into Valerie's death, but when Myron tells him he can't, Cross tells Myron the truth about the night his son was killed.
Alexander and his friends were on drugs and had left the party to use them. Outside they had seen Yeller and Swade with stolen tennis equipment and confronted them. According to the senator, his son was stabbed by Errol Swade, who escaped. Curtis Yeller had been shot by the police. The senator admits...
