Aviya Kushner, the poetry editor for Neworld Renaissance Magazine, earned an MA. in creative writing fromBoston University. In the following essay, Kushner discusses Heaney's portrayal of the turmoils in Irish history against the beautiful backdrop of Ireland in his writings.
