Summary
Chapter 29 is “Rowan.” Geneva reveals the new information she has about the case. The military-issue gun had the initials “V.F.” carved on the barrel, but an analyst believes the initials were originally “R.F.” The only possible match they have is Raymond Fisher from Decatur, Georgia, who went AWOL in 1919. The draft card indicates that “Raymond Fisher was black” (277). Later, Tim says the district attorney has declined to file charges against Jerry Randall, and are “calling it self-defense” (278).
Rowan is surprised that there are so many people at Arvin's funeral. Rowan goes to the wake with Tru, who says the wake is being held at Mama Ray's house.
