Miss Preston's School of Combat

Miss Preston's School of Combat is the first setting in the novel. Jane and other girls are training there to battle the shamblers. The school is set in a building that once housed a college, and it is a nice facility for the time and setting. The building is part of an overall estate used for the school, and it is located near Baltimore. Jane learns that the school is actually being used to produce fighters that the Baltimore mayor is using to fuel a plan to create a utopian society in the western United States.
