Summary

Chapter 36, "In Which All Hell Breaks Loose Once More," opens with just a few sentences from Ophelia, begging Jane to come home. When Jane and Katherine return to town, Ida meets them with news that a bigger horde has been spotted a few miles away. Jane and Katherine are immediately at odds. Katherine wants to fight, but Jane feels that is suicide. She tells Ida to run and to advise everyone else to do the same. Jane rushes to the brothel and spreads the word. Duchess says that Sheriff Snyder knows the truth about Katherine. Jane tells Duchess that the wall is gone and Summerland is not safe, and that it "never was."
