Summary

Chapter 35 is from Leaf's perspective. He tries to temper his excitement by reminding himself the Wren who flew away on a dragon might not be his sister but the imaginary voice of Wren in his head insists that his sister would never have allowed herself to be eaten by a dragon. Leaf suddenly realizes that his idea of killing a dragon to retaliate for Wren's death has never been his real destiny, and that finding Wren is. Rose says Wren flew away to the east and predicts they will not catch her unless they have a dragon. Ivy reminds Stone that he rode a dragon using the invisibility chain. Leaf wants to try and Rose identifies a gentle dragon she calls Sweetface who treats Rose like “an adorable baby rabbit or something” (337). Leaf notices that Stone and Rose are soon bantering...
