Summary

Chapter 31 is from Leaf's perspective. Ivy wants to rescue Rose. She believes it will “fix” Heath so that “we all live happily ever after” (300). Leaf sees how hopeful she is but does not believe the plan will work. He is skeptical that anyone can make a person be different but admits he has wondered if Wren might have changed Talisman by confronting the dragonmancers. Stone says he believed Rose was alive a year earlier when he left Valor but no longer believes it. From her vision, Ivy suggests the dragons are keeping Rose like a pet. From what Leaf has learned recently, he does not dismiss the idea. Stone reluctantly agrees that they must find out if Ivy's vision is correct. Stone insists on going back to Valor to get horses for the journey. Leaf and Ivy are walking together when the dragon...
