Chapter 9 Summary
Menolly goes down for lunch where she finds the apprentices stuffing themselves because they know there will be little for dinner that night since Silvina believes they will all fill up on treats at the gather. As they head up to the gather, Piemur warns Menolly to leave her fire lizards behind to keep them from being abused by other visitors to the hold. Once at the gather, Piemur sells a pipe for a few of the boys, gaining money for them all to spend. Piemur immediately then takes Menolly to a booth to buy pies fresh from the oven. Piemur successfully barters for eight pies for the same amount of money that might have bought him only six. Piemur shares with Menolly and Camo. Then Piemur takes Menolly to a vendor's stall to look at belts. While they are looking, Pona walks...
