Part 5, Chapter 30 Summary
Jared arrives home to relieve Jamie of his duties. Jamie, Claire, Murtagh, and Fergus make the long journey back to Scotland and Lallybroch. The sea is not a friend to Jamie, so he gets drunk for the travel by boat. It's a long trip, but Jamie survives it. They continue on horseback. Fergus is the first to spot Lallybroch and is excited.
Ian greets them as they approach. Jenny, Ian's wife, is expecting their third child. The last time Jamie and Claire saw them she had just delivered child number two. Ian tells them the new baby is due in February. Ian tells them they have lost many sheep and also informs them of Ronnie MacNab's death at the cottage. There is nothing left but a pile of stones.
Jamie, Ian, Murtagh, and Fergus go in search of the lost sheep...
