Part 4, Chapter 23 Summary

The bleeding stops the next day, but Claire decides it's time for her to stop working and take it easy until the baby comes. Charles approaches Louise, who's carrying his baby, and tells her that he has a plan and that it's big. Jamie and Claire wonder how they can stop him, as it's obviously a plan bigger than just port wine, which he has lead his father to believe.

Jamie derives a plan to make the Comte St. Germain's ship look like it has smallpox aboard once it returns from Portugal. He asks Claire what she has in her medicine box to make a man have fever or spots. She says she has several things. Murtagh asks how he's going to accomplish this.
