Part 1, Chapter 5 Summary

Claire, Brianna, and Roger visit the Kirkyard of St. Kilda together, and Claire brings her leaf press in hopes of finding some interesting leaves to take with her. Brianna and Roger lead Claire to a gravestone with the name Jonathan Randall on it. Claire is very startled at the discovery.

Brianna and Roger go into the chapel while Claire wants to be alone in the graveyard. While the two youngsters are in the chapel having their first kiss, Claire is near passing out upon reading another stone that reads, "James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser, Beloved Husband of Claire". Claire tells Brianna and Roger before passing out that Jamie was her husband and Brianna's father.

Claire is brought back to the manse by Roger and Brianna and she begins her tale of how she was transported back in time through the standing...
