It is apparent that Dragon Center did not explode in the way it was intended, and with the Japanese fighter jets firing upon the helicopter known to carry Suma as a captive, Jordan and Kern reach the unpleasant conclusion that Tsuboi and his men consider Suma to be expendable. The President cancels the nuclear attack on Ajima Island, but they are still in a very high state of alert not knowing the status of the Kaiten Project. They are delighted to have Suma as a guest of the United States and intend to interrogate him thoroughly, but realize that the danger is far from over. Tsuboi is known for his ruthlessness, and the fact that he ordered Suma's helicopter to be shot down demonstrates just how debased he is...
