Part III, Ajima Island: Chapters 40 - 42 Summary

The three men quickly choose weapons and ammunition and load their guns in preparation for an assault. Pitt breaks the remaining headlight of the Jeep, plunging the entire hardware store into darkness. The only indication that something is wrong is the screaming alarm. The twelve Japanese ninjas approach the storefront, thinking that the three men are either dead or seriously injured and it will be an easy kill. Without warning, a five gallon container of paint thinner with a flaming rag in it is thrown out from the back of the store and with the illumination Pitt and Giordino open fire. They kill about half of their attackers before exiting the store. Pitt does take the time to pull off the mask of one of the men, and seeing that he is Japanese...
