Part I, Big John: Chapters 13 - 15 Summary
Eight thousand kilometers away from the undersea drama in the Pacific, a crew of men in the Philippines excavate, looking for a hidden tunnel that is thought to contain over five-hundred billion dollars worth of gold and treasure, called Yamashita's Gold. This is a stockpile of treasures stolen from various countries by the Japanese during World War II. The task has been arduous. The tunnel was dug by the labor of captured Allied soldiers and booby-trapped to prevent theft. When the men finally reach their objective, all they find are hundreds of skeletons, bodies of the men who dug the tunnel and were sealed in to prevent them from telling tales. The treasure has already been removed by the Japanese.
