Summary

In Chapter 12, Gene interviews Austin Walker. Austin says people sometimes mistake him for Paris Austin. Austin had spent a month on the bench the previous year after an injury to his ankle. He hated being out of the game, but he got to know some players who seldom get much time on the court. Austin's father grew up in the inner city and became a public defender in Oakland. He believes his Catholic education gave him a basis for a successful life. Austin has always fit in at O'Dowd, but Gene believes Austin fits in wherever he is. Gene shows scenes from basketball trips and various places around school as examples. Unlike most of the other team members, he is not planning to play basketball in college.
