Point of View
This novel is told through varying points of view. The narrative voice is a third-person omniscient narrator. The narrative voice therefore illustrates the novel in a dry and exact description of events, and the narrator often incorporates the opinions, perceptions, and experiences of the characters. For example, when describing Pam’s relationship to her apartment shared with Simon, the narrative voice reads, “A flimsy drywall partition divided what had once been a one-bedroom apartment into a one-and-a-half. Simon had the half bedroom. It was too cheap. He would never, ever move out voluntarily. She was out of town a lot for work, and every time she got back, she could tell he’d been sleeping in her bed.
