Chapters 25 through 31 Summary and Analysis
Piri is told the cop he shot died but later learns he is on the way to recovery. He is held at the hospital for some time, then moved to Bellvue before being taken to the "House of Do-Right," also known as the Tombs, to await trial. He learns police traced the car back to Louie and that he talked to the police about Piri's involvement. He says he thought Piri was dead and that it would not matter. When the time comes for sentencing, Piri is given five to fifteen years of hard labor at Sing Sing for the robbery and five to ten for the assault.
