Chapters 14-15 Summary

Nick is out of town for the rest of the week. Lauren visits with Philip, but does not tell him anything although she may have heard the name of one of his employees that she was supposed to listen for. Lauren has decided she does not want to spy on Nick for Philip despite her tumultuous relationship with Nick. Lauren only tells Philip that Nick is out of town. From that information, Philip learns where Nick has gone and sends investigators to find out why he was in Italy.

That weekend, Nick shows up at Lauren's condo and again attempts to seduce her. Lauren makes it clear to Nick that she wants a relationship, not an affair. When Nick refuses to accept her terms, Lauren kicks him out. Nick leaves Lauren a pair of earrings, pearl earrings to replace her mother's...
