Summary
The tattoo craze begins at school, and Nikki, Chloe, and Zoey collect dozens of books. Chloe raises the cost of a tattoo to two books, which brings in even more books. Beyond the tattoos, Nikki begins making more friends as a result. Chloe later begins charging three books for emergency tattoo appointments. Nikki’s schedule fills up quickly. 149 kids await tattoos. This annoys Nikki, because she was not consulted as to her own school schedule. The waiting list number grows to 216.
This causes an argument between the girls. Nikki has a difficult time trying to design and keep up with tattoos. When Chloe and Zoey are invited to MacKenzie’s party, and Nikki is not, Nikki quits. She feels as if she has been used by Chloe and Zoey. She refuses the interview with Brandon.
