Chapters 7-8 Summary

Chapter 7. Lil J is seen on the television rapping a rap song he has written that is filled with anger against the white establishment. Lil J is part of a rap group at school that is supposed to present the school with rap songs filled with hope and optimism;, therefore, the group is unhappy with what Lil J presents. When they offer their objections, Lil J storms out. Lil J runs into Lauryn and she correctly guesses that Lil J is going to buy drugs. Lauryn insists on going with him even though she is something of a straight arrow, a straight A student who has never used drugs.
