Tonopah, Nevada
Tonopah is a small, semi-rural town in the state of Nevada. The Reeses’ sheep ranch is located in Tonopah, and Horace had lived and worked on this ranch for the past several years of his life. Horace and the Reeses view each other as family but Horace feels the need to leave Tonopah to pursue his dream of becoming a boxer and to try to forge a different path in life. Meanwhile, Mr. Reese remains on the ranch and tries to manage it by himself, despite his increasing physical ailments. The Reeses eventually sell the ranch and buy a smaller, more manageable cattle ranch, which Horace returns to help them operate.
