Summary
The epilogue takes place about four months after Chapter 18. April, Mr. Corrigan, Lorelei, and Mrs. Corrigan have all gotten jobs in a new city. April is at the mall and sees a boy she finds attractive. She goes over to talk to him and makes plans for a date. The boy is looking for a gift for his mother and April recommends a prism (which is the same gift that Steve gave her at the beginning of the story.) The epilogue concludes with her hanging the prism in her bedroom.
Analysis
The epilogue is important to the story because it shows the reader that April has at last accepted her new reality and is moving on with her new life.
