Point of View
This novel is told by the first person point of view of FBI Agent Joe Pistone. Agent Pistone relives his six years undercover inside the Mafia world. At times there is dialog between Pistone and other characters. All of the information given in this true life story comes from Pistone first hand knowledge of events. The impact of this point of view is felt often throughout the story; Agent Pistone not only gives the information of the case, but also how he is feeling and why he made certain choices.
This first person account of events adds a depth of understanding that could not be otherwise achieved. Through this point of view Agent Pistone is able to tell the story, as well as explain his inner thinking behind his actions.
