Summary
Chapter 10 is titled “Multiple Singularity.” The chapter opens with reporter Sarah Hatoff filming a news story about Dr. Scum's factory. She tells the viewer they will now “meet the inventor.” Dr. Scum shouts that he was in two previous books, meaning they have already met. Sarah obviously does not remember him. Dr. Scum explains that the machines scan the face of a real person then print a 3-D image from that scan to make the head of the robot. The robot – an A.I. Buddy – can then work for the person. A man who just got an A.I. Buddy says the A.I. Buddy can go to work “So I can do important stuff … like playing games on my phone” (137). Other people are leaving their A.I. Buddies to take care of their kids while they do other “important stuff.” One woman...
