Summary

Chapter 9 is titled “The Bad Old Days.” Sarah picks up the interview with Petey, saying Petey is going to show his story instead of telling it. Petey believes Lil' Petey and Molly will ruin the scene. Molly agrees. He leads the group to the “Jail 4 Cats: U.S. Department of Kitty Corrections” (120). From this point, the panels are framed with the wavy lines, indicating these are scenes from Petey's memories. When he got out of jail, he tried to be good but could not find a job or home, and everyone saw him as bad. Because no one would give him a new start, he reverted to a life of crime.

Meanwhile, Grampa and Big Jim arrive at Petey's, still disguised as the robot and Commander Cupcake. Grampa falls down the stairs and breaks the robot costume. Big Jim is sad but Grampa...
