Summary

Chapter 6 is titled “The Playdate.” At Cat Jail, Big Jim returns with batteries and finds a note from Grampa, saying he has escaped. Big Jim drops the batteries into the top of the robot, saying he got them from Grampa's clock. The robot shouts “I told you not to touch my stuff” (71). (The reader should remember the robot is actually Grampa.) Grampa then remembers what he is supposed to say and begins a series of beeps. He speaks like a robot might. Big Jim says he loves the robot and asks if they can color together. Grampa says they should escape. Then, he amends it to say they should have a scavenger hunt outside. He says they need to find two ingredients – Cannery Grow and Living Spray. Big Jim leads the way.Meanwhile, Petey tells 80-HD to get to work repairing his house...
