Point of View
The graphic novel is written from an omniscient perspective. The premise of the story line is that George and Harold are the writer and cartoonist of the Dog Man series. The real writer and cartoonist, Dav Pilkey, creates the novel as if George and Harold are writing and illustrating the scenes. The main character is Dog Man, and most of the graphic novel involves Dog Man's presence. However, some events take place out of Dog Man's sight, which is why the omniscient perspective is necessary. In a switch from traditional super hero story lines, the reader does not know what Dog Man is thinking. His thoughts are not part of the novel. The reader only sees his actions. While other characters talk, Dog Man can only bark.
The perspective is limited only by the imaginations of George and Harold, who are fourth graders. That means...
