Summary
The second graphic novel of the series, Dog Man Unleashed, opens with a Prologue titled “Our Story Thus Far.” The opening panel shows Harold and George, the fourth graders credited with creating, writing, and illustrating the Dog Man series, promising to help the reader understand what has happened up to this point. They introduce a “world where evil cats” (5) and “sinister villains” run wild. They explain how Officer Knight and Greg became Dog Man, a crime-fighting cop with the best of both man and dog. But Dog Man has bad habits, including rolling in smelly, dead fish and slobbering. The Chief says Dog Man is a good cop but “a bad doggy” (12). Harold and George invite the reader to read on to find out if Dog Man can be good.
