Summary
“Behind the Scenes” is the title of the foreword in Dog Man and Cat Kid. It opens with Harold and George introducing themselves. They are now “totally mature” (5) fifth graders who are reading some classic literature. The book East of Eden inspired them to write this graphic novel. They begin with a recap that explains how Dog Man came into existence. They tell how he became friends with the Chief, Sarah Hatoff, and Zuzu. They tell how Li'l Petey came into existence. The recap ends by asking if Li'l Petey can be good, or if he will become evil like Petey.
