Summary
In Chapter 30, Amal is missing Adam's companionship. Amal says she understands Adam is trying to soothe his ego after she refused to kiss him. At school, a girl named Lara asks Amal to address the student body. She wants Amal to “explain to everybody why (the terrorists) did it and how Islam justifies it” (Location 2766). Amal says that the members of the Ku Klux Klan claimed to be Christians and asks Jana to talk on that topic. Lara is immediately apologetic. Amal calms down and says that the terrorists use Muslim as a means of identifying themselves, and that they are choosing political gain over the rules of Islam. Lara touches Amal's shoulder as she walks away, and her obvious kindness further calms Amal.
