Summary
In Chapter 9 Azreel visited Eleanor Ouellette, the oldest resident of the Helen Rivington House at 102. When Dan sat down on Eleanor’s bed, she told him that she’d had several visitors, all of whom had made Azreel nervous. He felt no sense of the presence of ghosts. Eleanor told Dan that he was to wait, that the lights would announce an arrival, and then his visitor would come.
Eleanor was in the middle of answering one of Dan’s questions when she suddenly died. Dan waited as Eleanor had told him to do. Dan realized that he could not hear any sounds at all from the floor. His watch had even stopped. There was a vibration and the lights began flashing on and off. A voice called for Dan from Eleanor’s mouth.
