Summary

In Chapter 7, in August of 2013, Concetta’s hip broke as she went to the kitchen to make her coffee. As she crawled toward the phone, she thought of the way that the human life was a circle that ended with crawling, the same way it began. Concetta later called Lucy and told her the hip could be fixed but that they would need to talk about other arrangements. The doctor had told her that the broken hip was the least of her worries. Concetta knew that Abra was a summer camp and did not want Lucy to tell her yet. As soon as Lucy hung up the phone with Concetta, Abra called crying. She knew that Concetta had cancer and wanted to come home.
